In 2007 Eric entered a contest for women’s fiction under the pseudonym Erica Lewis and won a national book deal with Urban Soul and Kensington Publishing and penned the titles Arlington Heights [2008] and Darkness In The Mirror [2009].

In 2010 Eric was contracted to write the screenplay for Sunday Morning Rapture for End Touch Movies. The film was released in 2011 and went on to win several awards including BEST Feature at the Capital City Black Film Festival in 2013. Currently the film is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Under the pseudonym Lewis Ericson, the “urban street lit” title OUTCAST, was published under the imprint Urban Renaissance and released nationally in December 2012. The sequel, Avenging Alex, followed in the 2013-2014. His provocative novel The Mansion was also published under this pseudonym. In March 2015, under the penname Lewis Ericson, a new deal was inked with Page Publishing. The novel Retribution (3rd in the series following OUTCAST and Avenging Alex) was released in 2016.

The proof-of-concept for The Mansion, filmed in 2022, has garnered 14 awards thus far, including nods for Best Actor (Michael Mau), Best Actress (Brittany D. Williams), Best Supporting Actor (Keith Alston), Best Producer, and Best Director (Eric Ayala).

The proof-of-concept for Arlington Heights, filmed in 2023, have garnered 8 awards, including nods for Best Indie Short, Best Director (Eric Ayala), Best Actress (Shimri Taemar), Best Editor (Bernard Miller).
